AP1

Melbourne alternative art rockers, Artist Proof bring you their long awaited debut album: AP1. The album draws on a wide range of material and contains the rock echoes of early Muse, the glam sensibilities of Queen and Bowie, and the psychedelic aspects of Pink Floyd.

The album is a cinematic piece that reflects the band’s immersive live performance, with each song a journey unto itself. It is awash with rich vocal melodies supported by layers of harmonies, driving rhythms, epic soaring guitar lines, interspersed with interesting and unpredictable chord progressions.

From the sweet and rueful sentiments on ‘New Day’ to the driving mania of ‘Blind’, to the eerie spookiness of ‘Fish Tale’, the album is the realization of the weird and wonderful sound the band has been refining for the last 10 years.

New Day

New Day

New Day was inspired by the paintings of Melbourne artist, Dagmar Cyrulla, who focuses on the hidden emotion depths that lie beneath the surface of everyday settings. The song was recorded by up and coming gun engineer Nikita Miltiadou in the eccentric setting of Soundpark studio in Northcote, Melbourne.

Hear a Voice

Artist Proof is pleased to release their double A side single 'Alpha, Hear a Voice'. The songs continue the band's truly unique sound that takes the listener on a journey from the haunting, classically inspired piano trills that open Alpha, to psyche drenched bridges, to the anthemic punch of Hear a Voice.

The band continues to be inspired by the visual world with Alpha a tribute to local legends Alpha60, the burgeoning fashion brand and Hear a Voice a nod to Stormie Mills, a Perth based artist who uses abandoned buildings and back lanes as his canvas for his evocative, contemplative figures

Transformed

Transformed is the latest song by Artist Proof. The song was inspired by a UK based Australian artist, Ricky Swallow and his piece 'Killing Time'. Transformed showcases the band's unique, epic, and unashamedly grand musical sensibilities. With soaring harmonies, powerful rhythms, and explosive melodies, 'Transformed' is a new take on the quintessential Artist Proof sound.

Had It All, Change On the Wind

Change on the Wind

Artist Proof’s second release sees the band taking on a more commercial rock sound with epic lead guitar lines and driving bottom end. The Double A Side continues the operatic grandeur of souring vocals, rich evocative harmonies and dynamic range that is quintessential to the Artist Proof sound.

From the isolated beginnings of ‘Had it All’ the band take the listener on a journey of a fall from grace. The remorseful rue of the verse gives rise to increasing feelings of resentment and fear as the chorus crescendos. Additional emphasis on guitar gives the band room to fully realize the intense difficulties of understanding what can be lost through one bad decision.

‘Change on the Wind’ bursts in with energy and promise, but the optimism of the initial chorus gives way to a lamenting investigation into autumnal change. The eerie nature of the verse quickly builds in intensity before exploding with the ferocity of a winter storm. The grandeur gives an ambiguous look into turmoil, an instrument of both destruction and regeneration.

Artist Proof's Double A Side album features ‘Had it all’ and ‘Change on the Wind’, recorded with Ricki Rae at Lighthouse Studios.

Artist Proof's debut EP Creatures of the Night is a sprawling epic through a rich musical landscape. Combining operatic, bold, emotive and sometimes ethereal sonic layers, the band have produced an original sound rich in emotional depth and heavy with aural drama.

Chris and Drew took their unique sound into Secret Location Studios where they collaborated with sound engineer and producer Paul Maybury who has previously worked with bands such as The Bowers and Rocket Science. Paul's music knowledge and finely tuned ear helped Artist Proof to hone their songs and create a mini album that truly represents the bands musical aesthetic.

From big string introductions, to soaring vocals, to nostalgic dreams, to lamentations for those lost, to pronouncements of undying love, Creatures of the Night has diverse and contrasting musical directions while producing a sound that can only be characterized as quintessentially Artist Proof.
